Rainbow Hub SA Committee members recently travelled to Victor Harbor to be part of the Festival for the Future. Robyn Lierton’s session “Honouring our Lesbian Heritage” was relaxed and fun and really got people reflecting and talking about lesbians that have had an impact on their lives.
Jackie Wurm and Pat Pearson presented about Rainbow Hub SA and our 2025-27 strategic direction and the Rainbow Dog project. Jess Evans shared briefly about the devastating impact of the recent UK supreme Court judgement defining a person’s gender as their biological body at birth rather than the actual person inside, leaving the transgendered community in the UK stripped of their legal rights, dignity and having to fight for their very existence.
The Festival was a great chance to exchange with community members and service providers and renew old connections and make new ones. We had some good chats at our stall staffed by the team including Pam Price. Ian Hunter MLC dropped by to say hello and give us advance copies of the 50th decriminalisation anniversary program. It’s always great catching up with Kate Arnold from the Fay Fuller Foundation, a key supporter of RHSA.
We look forward to continuing to promote and support initiatives for our communities in regional SA.
