The second annual South Australian Pride Gala was a sold-out celebration of visibility, legacy and pride held at the Adelaide Festival Centre on 27 June. Over 300 people packed the Banquet Room for a truly memorable event, including several members of the Rainbow Hub SA Committee. The event coincided with marking 50 years since SA led the nation in decriminalising homosexuality. The night featured powerful speeches, fabulous performances, emotional Hall of Fame inductions – Frank Ford and Helen Bock – acknowledgment of all the SA Pride Award finalists and announcement of the winners across the many categories.
The South Australian Pride Awards 2025 reflect the depth and breadth of community organisations and individuals doing important work and offering great opportunities to LGBTI+ people across SA.
As a finalist in Community Group of the Year category, Rainbow Hub SA (RHSA) would firstly like to congratulate Diverse–City as the community group to take out this category. Diverse-City are an organisation that does amazing work for our community. Sue and Sarah provide a safe and welcoming place to socialise, meet and discuss issues or for private functions. We also acknowledge Pride of the South, the other finalist in this category. Pride of the South have, for many years, been a focal point for providing social connections, for advocacy and for representation of members of our community who live in the southern suburbs of Adelaide.
RHSA would like to thank all those members of the community who took the time to vote for us in the Community Group of the Year category. It’s an honour to be acknowledged by our community that we are on the right track. We look forward to continuing to advocate, connect and partner to benefit our community and generations to come, including offering an education program for providers to better understand the traumas and experiences of older LGBTI+ South Australians.
